On August 24th at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA from 6-10 p.m., witness a unique collision of motion picture and music as Emmett Malloy projects pieces of his own groundbreaking film throughout a live performance of indie rock frontrunners Cults and Lord Huron. As if this rare juxtaposition of sight and sound wasn’t consummate enough, Malloy’s pieces will not only be projected onto the walls of the gallery space, but onto a forest of white spheres hanging from ceiling–suspended above the heads of the audience as their senses are enveloped by Malloy’s signature, stunning imagery and Cults and Lord Huron’s unusually hypnotic music. An event not be missed. August 24th 6-10 p.m. at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.

Emmett Malloy’s newest film, Big Easy Express, now available to pre-order as an exclusive iTunes movie release, to launch June 26th.
Big Easy Express documents indie folk heroes Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Tennessee’s Old Crow Medicine Show, and Britain’s acclaimed Mumford & Sons, as they climb aboard a beautiful vintage train in California, setting out for New Orleans, Louisiana on a “tour of dreams”. The resulting film from this journey is nothing short of magical.
“Being on an vintage train, riding the rails through the heart of America took us all back in time a bit. It was easy to get lost and imagine that we were just there for the fun of it all, rolling along with your friends and playing music because you loved it. Our cameras were there to participate in the journey and never get in the way of the moving train.” – Emmett Malloy, director of Big Easy Express.

Emmett just returned home from 10 adventure-filled days filming on the road with Mumford & Sons, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show on the Railroad Revival Tour. Traveling exclusively in vintage rail cars, Emmett was with the bands as they journeyed across the American Southwest, playing at several outdoor locations. The action was just as much off the stage as it was on, with late night jam sessions in train compartments, impromptu performances from band members along the tracks for fans camped out at stations and even a mobile Easter service along the way. |

Meanwhile, back in the City of Angels, Brendan was busy with a real life Angel, filming a SOBE commercial with Angels star pitcher Jered Weaver. Coming off a big game the night before, Jered couldn’t have been any cooler on set. Here is Brendan helping Jered get into character while everyone else was working. |

And ever the good sport, what does Jered Weaver do when you ask him to slice an apple by pitching it at a knife 20 feet away? |

Well, he nails it of course… |

Jack Johnson really does not like doing music videos, so you either have to physically challenge him with something interesting or get a comedian to run rampant along side of him. For this video Jack said he wanted to just jump off a cliff, so we took that lead and ran with it. We are really excited about the way this one turned out and appreciate the 50 jumps Jack did to get the shots we needed. |

G. Love’s New Record We have been friends with G.Love for almost 15 years now. His first record still is one of our most favorites of all time. This record he teamed up with Scott and Seth Avett and made his best record since his first. At least that is our opinion.” Check out some clips from the making of the record HERE and HERE. |

Jack Johnson From the Clouds Video Premiere We also got to premiere at a nice gallery in Los Angeles. We got a keg, the taco guy and projected imagery on every wall in the place. People seemed to like it, but they were all drunk so who knows. |

“Emmett Malloy has captured and crafted a magical, compelling and perfectly musical document.”
